On Saturday, September 17, Cooper-Young held its annual festival for its inhabitants and any Memphians wanting to attend. The festival brought out people from all ethnic groups, social class, and age. Also it had a tremendous amount of booths where people were either selling goods or products or just simply advertising for their businesses or teams. Also, the festival brought talented people out. Dancers, steppers, and bands all came out for this joyous get together. People came out dressed to impress, from the odd to the absolute funny.
Rudy Gay and Other NBA Stars Take the Court at the Desoto Civic Center

As the NBA Lockout continues, the stars of the game have not stopped playing the game.

Despite the NBA players being locked out of all NBA facilities the superstars of the NBA have taken their talents to local gyms to continue to improve their game or just simply host exhibition games in their local towns. In those exhibition games are some the fastest rising and most prominent stars of today’s league, showcasing their skills for fans around the country for prices that are much cheaper than those of the NBA games.

Another one of these exhibition games was hosted by Memphis Grizzlies star forward, Rudy Gay, at the Desoto Civic Center Tuesday night November 8.

Lebron James and Kevin Durant, along with local basketball heroes Tyreke Evans, Lester Hudson, and Terrico White all played in the charity event infront of over 5,000 fans. The fans stayed over after the game was done to take pictures with or of the stars and get autographs from the players.

The game was filled with high flying dunks and non-traditional three point shootouts, and absolutely no defense. But ask any fan, they had no problem being thrilled with nothing but offense.

The final score of the game was 158-151 with Rudy Gay’s white team falling to Lebron James’ blue team. Rudy led his team with 45 points and LeBron led his with 43 points.

Afterwards Rudy Gay addressed the fans thanking them and the players coming out. Rudy addressed the Basketball Never Stops campaign by saying, “"It's not a cliché. Basketball never stops. It's true. We're going to find a way to play and have fun."

The Basketball Never Stops campaign isn’t just focused on these exhibition games though. "No matter where you're at, no matter what time of the day, you can always have a love for the game, and you can always play the game," Lebron James said in a recent interview by Nike posted on their YouTube page. "You could be playing inside your house with your loved ones or at a rec league with kids, or playing at a rec league with 40-and-over guys, it doesn't matter. The game of basketball never stops no matter what's going on in the world because people love the game that much."

Amare Stoudemire also gave his viewpoint of the campaign saying, "You're always thinking about basketball. It's something that you sleep, you dream, when you're awake, you play, you think about it."
